GAME RULES – Round Robin Tournament Schedule

  1. To be able to play in the games, all players must fill out, sign and submit the waiver before the games.
  2. Teams will play 12 Minute Matches. A Match is divided into (3) 4 Minute Sets. Teams will switch court side after each set.  At the end of a 4 minute set the team with the least amount of players standing wins the set. The winner of the most sets wins 1 point. Team with the most points wins the Tournament.
  3. Tie Breaker (Sudden Death):  At the end of a 4 minute set, should both teams have equal amount of players standing, each team gets to bring in a player(s).  In a sudden death tie breaker, each team must have at least 3 players each.  Example:  If there are 2 players left on each team, each team gets to bring in 1 player each.  If there is more than 3 players left standing for the tie breaker, there is no need to bring in another teammate.  The first team to get a man out wins the tie breaker.

  4. Maximum of 2 teams with 6 players/team on the court at all times. If your team is not complete at starting time you will play with as many people as you have, we will not wait. Make sure to be at the court at least 10 minutes before your mach time because we will start a match as soon as the last match finishes.

  5. 4 Dodgeballs will be aligned on the court’s dividing line. All 6 players will line up at the end line of their court side. When the referee blows the whistle 2 players from each team will race to the grab the dodgeballs. Once the dodgeballs are retrieved, the balls must be taken or passed to a teammate behind the end line before it can be thrown.

  6. Players MUST NEVER cross the center/dividing line (defined as placing any part of the foot beyond the center/dividing line) Doing so will result to the player being out.

  7. During Play, all the players must remain within the boundary line. Players jumping out of bounds to avoid being hit by the dodgeball will be OUT. Out of bounds is defined as placing both feet completely beyond the boundary line.

  8. Ball Retrieving Assignments: The latest loosing team will cover the lines and retrieve the balls, except for the very first match, non playing teams will volunteer.

  9. No Time Outs. The Clock never stops unless it is a hit in the face or an injury.

  10. Tie Breaker (Sudden Death):  It’s a tie when at the end of a set both teams have equal amounts of players standing. In this case, each team gets to bring in one extra player of your choice unless there are already 6 players present. The first team to get a man out wins the tie breaker.

  11. Threatening language, inappropriately aggressive behavior, verbal threats and slurs against race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality or gender will not be tolerated under any circumstances towards players or the referee staff.  A Player who displays this type of behavior is OUT.  A team that displays this type of behavior is eliminated from the game.
  12. The Referee has the final say on all rulings.

HOW A PLAYER IS DEFINED AS OUT:

  1. A live ball is defined as a ball that has been thrown and has not touched the sand, official or other item outside of the playing field
  2. To eliminate a player you must hit him or her with a live ball or catch a live ball he or she has thrown.
  3. Once a player is hit he or she must sit on the sidelines for the remainder of the set.
  4. Clothing is considered as a part of the body. If a live dodgeball brushes on a player's body, that player is OUT
  5. If you catch a live ball thrown by your opponent before it touches the ground, your opponent is OUT, and one teammate returns to the game in this order: First Out, First In; Second Out, Second In, etc…(This gives all players equal opportunity, vs. picking the best players only).
  6. If a live ball hits a ball that a player is holding, and it bounces off that ball and is then caught by another teammate, the person who threw the ball is OUT, and one of your teammate’s returns in the game. (first out, first in; second out, second in, etc…)
  7. If a live ball hits a ball that a player is holding and knocks that ball out of their possession, or the player drops their ball to the ground, then that player is OUT.
  8. If a LIVE ball hits a ball that a player is holding, bounces or is deflected off that ball and drops to the floor, then neither the thrower or the opposing teammate are OUT
  9. A ball deflected off a teammate’s body can be caught by another teammate resulting in the person that threw the ball being OUT, and one of your teammate’s returns in the game.  (first out, first in; second out, second in, etc…).
  10. If a Player hits someone on the head you are OUT with no substitution.
